The Spill: Another prime example of a fun concept that falls boringly short, the pumpkin ale is an oft-seen addition to beer shelves during the fall. Most are like this one: orange beer. Some, like Jack's Pumpkin Spice Ale a few entries down the list, fall even shorter of the intended goal. If you're looking for nutmeg or pumpkin pie, don't stop here. Keep moving.
Says Bill: I always have to try these when they come out, just in case I find one I can rave about. So far, I haven't found much. The Blue Moon line isn't expensive, so it's a great thing to pick up and dump off at a party full of college students or people with no real acumen for good beer. However, if you're seeking your own enjoyment from this, you'll find it's more of a trick than a treat.
